Roberta Scott Gardella

Roberta S. Gardella, 69, of Frederick, MD, formerly of Woonsocket, passed away at South County Hospital on Friday, August 18, 2017. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late S. Frederick and Catherine (Cummings) Gardella of North Smithfield. Roberta was a graduate of Boston University and the University of Maryland. She had a long career as a scientist for the National Institute of Health at Fort Dietrick, MD. She is survived by her sister, Catherine Babick of Wakefield and many nieces, nephews and long time friends. She was the sister of the late Mary DiBlasio, Frances Gardella, Eleanor Placella and Stephen F. Gardella. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2017, at 9 am from the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am in Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Road, Kingston. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Wednesday 5-8 pm.
