Robert “Bob” George Williams 83 of Narragansett, RI Passed away on December 25th, 2016 at his home with his devoted wife by his side. Bob was born in Armonk, NY to Harry and Elsie Williams on February 22, 1933. He attended Armonk Public School and enjoyed living the country life as a young boy. Bob Married Joan O’Donnell on August 12, 1974 in Armonk, NY. They made their home in Westminster Ridge in White Plains, NY. From 1979-1990 Bob was the Caddie Master at Westchester hills Golf Club. In 1993 Bob and Joan relocated to Rhode Island where he managed the Warm Shelter in Westerly, RI for ten years. Throughout his life Bob volunteered his time helping those with various disabilities. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Bob was a Voracious reader and cross word puzzle extraordinaire. Those that knew Bob remember that he always had a “tumbler” filled with unsweetened Ice tea that he made at home. A lover of the “classic” cartoons, history and a sports buff that looked forward daily to the sports page of his favorite newspaper. He also loved wildlife and bird watching. Bob was a friend of Bill W. for 46 years. A Peace Activist that dedicated his time to promoting peace on the streets of Rhode Island, you could often drive by on a nice day and see him holding a sign that said “ Non Violence." As part of his dedication to Peace he traveled to Auswitz Poland. He was a member of FOR (Fellowship Of Reconciliation), for thirty plus years and his name is engraved on the wall of the MLK Center in Montgomery, Alabama. A member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Charlestown, RI since 1994. Bob was predeceased by the following, his father Harry Williams who was the first fire chief of Armonk, NY. His mother Elsie who was appointed by President Woodrow Wilson to become the Post Mistress of North Castle, NY, brother Harry, sister Elsie, and sister Charlotte. Bob was one of two sets of twins in his family. Also his brother in Christ, Father John Anderson who introduced him to FOR and to our God that is kind,loving and above all a forgiving God. Bob is survived by his wife Joan of 42 years and their seven children Dawn Irving (Paul), Diane (Mike) Rugato, Dana Spiconardi,Tommy (Patty) Spiconardi, Chris (Patricia)Spiconardi, Nick Spiconardi and Beth ( Robert ) Patterson also 17 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren all of whom he was very proud. Bob is also survived by his twin sister Norma. Missing him, besides many friends and family will be his Pug Gracie. The family would like to thank Hope Hospice And Palliative Care for their dedicated staff that made Bobs final days as peaceful, comfortable and dignified as anyone could hope for their loved one. Bob wanted to thank Pastor Jim Warner for his years of kindness, love and friendship. Calling hours will be Thursday December 29th from 4-7 pm at Avery-Storti Funeral Home in Wakefield, RI. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, December 31st at 4pm at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Charlestown RI.
