Robert A. Warner, Jr, 76, of Wakefield, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at home. He was the husband of Jeanne L. (Townsend) Warner for 53 years. Born in South Kingstown he was the son of the late Robert A. Warner, Sr. and Beatrice (Houde) Warner. Mr. Warner was an auto body repair manager for Don Panciera Chevrolet, where he was considered the best auto body repair man in South County; then was a custodian at Peace Dale Elementary School where the children called him “Bob the builder”. Before starting his career he joined the Army at age 17. Bob enjoyed woodworking especially making bird houses and light houses. Besides his wife he is survived by his daughters, Renee Avilla and her husband Joe of Onset, MA and Robin Gursky and her husband Peter of West Warwick; four grandchildren, David Vallee, Danielle Avilla, Noah and Kyle Gursky; five brothers, Joe Warner of FL, Michael Warner of Wakefield, Paul Warner of Narragansett, Peter Warner of Westerly and Stevie Warner of CA and six sisters, Sandy Opal of CT, Mary DiPietro of Wakefield, Theresa Pellitier of Westerly, Gina Holland of TN, Judy Lawhorne of Wakefield and Ann Sherman of FL. He was the brother of the late John Warner. Visiting hours will be held in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, 9-11 am followed by a funeral service at 11 am. Burial with military honors will follow in R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
