Robert M. Valuk, 80, of Wakefield passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Friday, September 30, 2022. Born in New Britain, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Garro) Valuk.
He is survived by his wife Lorraine Valuk of Wakefield, daughter Gail Valuk of Richmond, son Thomas Valuk and partner Brian Gray of East Greenwich, and two grandchildren Andie and Alana Valuk. He is also survived by his brothers Frank Valuk of San Antonio, Texas and Daniel Valuk of Kensington, Connecticut and predeceased by his brother Michael Valuk of Nashua, New Hampshire.
Bob dedicated his life to the education of children. He held various positions throughout his illustrious career which included college professor, teacher, principal, and superintendent. He was a graduate of New Britain High School and received his undergraduate at Central Connecticut State University. Other degrees included a Masters and Sixth Year from the University of Connecticut and his Doctorate in Education from the University of Bridgeport.
Bob was an avid boater, fisherman, and clammer. He could often be found with a clam rake or a fishing rod in his hand at Ninigret Pond. Never one to pass up a good card game, he also wrote several books on the topic. Other pastimes included golf, tennis, and traveling with Lorraine. He walked the beach daily, was a voracious reader, actively followed sports and politics, and had a great love of food. A true Renaissance man, Bob was an author of novels, financial newsletters, and personalized poetry which he shared with family and close friends.
Bob’s greatest love in his life was his wife Lorraine, as they were high school sweethearts. His proudest achievements were his family, Gail and Tom, and his grandchildren, Andie and Alana.
A private celebration of life will be held at the Green Hill Beach Club.
