Robert A. Ryan

Robert A. Ryan, 83, passed away peacefully Monday, November 10th, 2008 at South County Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Angela (Petrecca) Ryan and they were married 61 years. Born in Providence, on he was a son of the late James and Rachael (Stackpole) Ryan, and had been a long time resident of the Elmhurst section of Providence. He worked as a machinist and toolmaker for Wholesworth Manufacturing Co. and BIF Industries before retiring to Narragansett twenty-six years ago. Mr. Ryan was a United States Marine Corps Veteran of WW II, actively serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. Besides his wife he is survived by a son James P. Ryan and his wife Deborah of East Greenwich, four grandchildren, Kevin, Christopher, James and Michael Ryan, a daughter-in-law Suzanne Ryan of Smithfield and a sister–in-law Matilda Manocchia of Narragansett. He was the father of the late Robert R. Ryan and brother of the late James I. Ryan. He was faithful and devoted to his family and the loving uncle of his nieces and nephews. The funeral will be 8:45 AM Saturday, November 15, 2008, from the AVERY-STORTI Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Pt. Judith Road, Narragansett. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are Friday 4-8 PM.
