Robert C. Knowles

June 7, 1932 — July 13, 2024

Robert C. Knowles, 92, of South Kingstown, died on July 13, 2024 with his family by his side. He was the husband of the late Vivian L. (Whitney) Knowles. Born in South Kingstown, he was a son of the late Clifford Knowles and Lomena Wilson.


Robert was an Army Veteran, serving in Germany as Sergeant First Class. He was past Master of the Slocum Grange, a member of the State Grange and was past Commander of the American Legion Post 12.


Robert was a farmer all his life and worked at Kenyon Mill. He was a huge Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots Fan.


He is survived by his five children, Alice (Duffy) Duffin, Donna (Marty) Dodge, Lisa (Wilton) Kingsley, Robert (Wendi) Knowles, and Roberta Knowles; his sisters, Betty Ferguson, Pat Sweet and Kathy Motter, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, a great great grandson, and nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Alice Lafreniere, Elmer Knowles and William Wilson.


Burial with military honors will take place on Thursday, July 18th, 2024 at 10:30 AM in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited to line up in front of the administration building at 10:15 AM.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.


Friends and family are invited back to the family farm at 1:00 PM.
