Robert J. Garofalo, 66 of Narragansett died on Friday, January 14, at home after a long struggle with Leukemia. He was the husband of devoted wife, Elizabeth Gallagher Garofalo, loving father of Liz Garofalo and J. Robert Garofalo, daughter in-law Teresa, and proud grandfather of Michael and Allie. Born in Derby, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Louis Garofalo. After receiving degrees from Providence College and Fairfield University, Bob worked and resided in Ansonia, Connecticut with his family until relocating to Rhode Island in 1984. After a varied career in teaching, construction, surveying, and trucking, he retired in 2006. Bob leaves behind his dear friends Bill, Johnny, Dave, Steve, Franny McG as well as the men of Kingston Auto and Dr. Kenneth Hathaway. His life can be summed up in these words, “ Good guys make a difference in their quiet way, seldom seem like heroes until they save the day. Good guys do the right thing, care and pray a lot, always go the distance and give life their best shot.” That was Bob. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 19th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church, 864 Pt. Judith Road, Narragansett. A condolence reception will be held in the lower level of the church immediately following the funeral mass. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.
