IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Neil
Drsicoll
September 20, 1949 – March 5, 2026
Mass
Robert N. Driscoll passed away peacefully with his loving caregiver and niece, Michaela by his side on Thursday, March 5, 2026, in Fallbrook, California at the age of 76.
Born on September 20, 1949, Robert grew up in the Fox Point section of Providence, RI. He lived in Hawaii, Tokyo, Japan and later in Santa Monica, CA. Family and friends will deeply miss him.
Robert began his academic career at Cleary School, graduated from La Salle Academy, and completed his BA at the University of Rhode Island. He received his MFA in Acting at the University of Hawaii.
Robert was an avid reader and advocate for the theater. He fell in love with acting and enjoyed acting in the theatre, on television and in the movies. He was a proud member of the Screen Actors Guild and the Harvey Lembeck Comedy Workshop. While in Japan he performed with various Japanese theatre groups and worked for JAL teaching their flight attendants English onboard a stationary aircraft. After returning from Japan, Robert taught English to Japanese students and was a building manager for an apartment complex in Santa Monica. Robert enjoyed his work, where many tenants were Japanese students attending Universities in the United States. His care and thoughtfulness for them,
extended well beyond being just a landlord, but also a teacher, mentor, and friend.
Robert was an adventurer, a traveler and had a deep affection for Japan. He spent many years in Japan studying the language and teaching English. He was a great appreciator of the Japanese people and their culture. He also was a great raconteur, regaling all the family with his stories of his adventures, and for Robert even daily life was an adventure! He will be sorely missed by all his extended family, especially his nieces and nephew who always loved spending time with him at family get togethers. He was their fun and funny Uncle.
Robert is survived by brothers Paul Driscoll and wife Theresa, Stephen Driscoll and his wife Karen, as well as his beloved nieces and nephew.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Mary Driscoll and his brother Richard Driscoll Jr. and sister Kathryn Driscoll.
Mass will be held at St. Joesph's Church, 92 Hope Street, Providence on August 1, 2026, at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. A reception will be held following the burial at The Waterman Grille in Providence.
