Robert J.
Brayton
Mar 24, 1934 — Aug 24, 2026
Wakefield, RI
Robert J. Brayton, 92, of Wakefield, RI, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. The son of the late Thomas L. and Helen Dereskevich Brayton and the beloved husband of Ann M. McAllister Brayton, he and Ann spent 50 years living in Medfield, MA before settling in Wakefield, RI.
Robert spent his early days teaching in Waterbury, CT before going on to work in sales where he spent his career as a sales representative for American Brass Co. Monsanto. He was an avid golfer and over the course of his playing days, he was able to score 4 holes in one and continuously shot below his age up until he was 87. Among other club championships, Robert was also the very first Club Champion of the newly opened Glen Ellen Country Club in 1963.
Apart from golf, Robert was also a very talented writer and wrote many poems and short stories about his family.
As a real sharp dresser, Bob always looked his best, especially when accompanied by his wife of 73 years. One perfect example of Bob’s thoughtfulness towards his wife was whenever he returned home form a sales trip, he would bring home a single rose to show his love and devotion to Ann.
Along with all his other amazing attributes, Bob humbly provided his love and attention, not just to his children, but to his children’s friends as well.
He also faithfully contributed to a charity of his choice the “Home for Little Wanderers”
Most of all, Robert was a terrific and dedicated father, grandfather, husband and friend with a wonderful sense of humor.
In addition to his beloved wife, Ann, Robert is survived by his children, Shaun, Cheryl & Mark; his grandchildren, Israel & Abra Huff, Johnny & Martin Fitzgerald, Melissa, Joey & Lindsay Brayton and Molly Gerratt; and his great grandchildren Alexandria, Jaden, Tristan, Bayla, Talyn, Keira, Robby, Olivia, Eryn, Reagan, Iver, Henry, Charlie, Selena, Camila, Nico & Isabella.
Arrangements are in the care of Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St. Wakefield, RI 02879. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Christ the King Church 180 Old North Rd., Kingston, RI on Friday, September 4th @ 11:00 am ET.
