Robert C. Bolster Sr., of Westwood, MA, Key Largo, FL, and Narragansett, RI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at the age of 92. Robert was born in Providence, RI to his loving parents, the late William and Estelle (Senft) Bolster. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia (Mahon) Bolster for 59 years, loving father of Robert and Elizabeth Bolster of Walpole, MA, Mark and Diane Bolster of Narragansett, RI, Matthew Bolster of Narragansett, RI, and Jon and Doreen Bolster of North Kingston, RI. Robert was the loving grandfather of Carolyn and her husband Brian, Allison and her husband Paul, Luke, William, Mark, Elise and her husband Richard, Brittany, Brandon and Brooke, and loving great-grandfather of Charles, Edward, Clara, Robert, Theodore and Asher. Robert is survived by his devoted sister Ann (Bolster) Doyle, of Narragansett, RI. He is pre-deceased by his brothers William F., Raymond J., and John A. Bolster.
Robert (Bob) had a wonderful childhood where he learned the restaurant business from his parents, and often spent summer days with his maternal grandmother in Barrington, RI. He enjoyed a successful career as a restaurant owner and manager in the Boston area, and spent summers in Narragansett, Rhode Island with his wife Pat and their four sons. Upon retirement, he and Pat relocated to Narragansett where they spent their remaining days. Bob attended Dean College and the University of Rhode Island. He served in the U.S. Army as a lieutenant from 1952 until 1955. Bob cherished the memories he had of the time he and Pat spent in Key Largo during the winter months. In his later years, Bob thoroughly enjoyed watching the great Boston sports teams. He was an avid bird watcher, and delighted in growing prize-winning dahlias. His home on a bird sanctuary provided the perfect setting for him to enjoy his love of nature and a place where the family he loved could gather.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea, 864 Point Judith Road, Narragansett, RI on Friday, November 3rd at 10 am.
