Robert J. “Bob” Doyle, 68, was born in Rhode Island, he lived in Philadelphia, Cincinnati, and SW Florida, he recently returned to Rhode Island, where he and Anne made their home in Narragansett. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 24, 2026, following a long illness, with his beloved wife of nearly 48 years, Anne (Bartolomeo)by his side.

Bob was the cherished son of the late Joseph A. and Charlotte (Fitzgibbon) Doyle. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Melissa Anne Doyle, and his sister, Diane Garneau. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. In addition to his beloved wife, Bob is survived by his brothers, Joseph (Patricia), of Durham, NC, Steve, (Mona), of Mooresville, NC, and; four nieces; five nephews; two grandnieces and many cherished cousins.

Bob and Anne built a life filled with love, family, friends, music, and countless cherished memories. Bob was also the loving father of the late Melissa Anne Doyle. His love for Melissa was immeasurable.

A graduate of Hendricken High School, Bob earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Rhode Island College and later received his master’s degree in business management from LaSalle University. He began his nursing career at South County Hospital and later worked at Pennsylvania Hospital. After nursing, he ventured into hospital supply chain management, retiring from Ernst and Young at 67.

Throughout his career, Bob’s compassion for others was evident in everything he did. He possessed a remarkable ability to empathize with people and genuinely cared about those around him. He was always thinking of others and never too busy to lend a helping hand and always put his patients’ needs first.

Bob was an exceptionally kind, generous, and thoughtful man. He served on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sarasota, FL, reflecting his deep commitment to helping others and making a positive difference in the lives of those around him.

Music was another important part of Bob’s life. He played the tuba in the marching band at Hendricken and later played piano for Hendricken and Prout’s combined yearly musical. Bob loved sharing his music with family and friends.

Bob worked hard throughout his life and took great pride in providing for his family. Although he appreciated the finer things in life, his greatest joy came from the people he loved and the life he shared with them.

Above all, Bob will be remembered for his enormous heart. His compassion, empathy, and generosity.

Bob’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m., followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, 30 Fenner Street, Providence, Rhode Island 02903. Burial will follow.
