Rn Betsy J. Nield, Ms Cs

Betsy J. Nield (Baxter), RN, MS, CS, 78 of Narragansett, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 14, 2018. She was the wife of Harry Nield, Jr. for 46 years. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Albert & Dorothea (Malone) Baxter. Betsy was a Professor of Nursing at CCRI before retiring; was a member of the American Nurses Association; Rhode Island State Nurses Association; Sigma Theta Tau; National Education Association; National League for Nursing; University of Rhode Island Nursing Alumni; Cabinet on Nursing Practice; Nursing Foundation of RI of which she was the founder, and was a lobbyist for RISNA bills in legislature. Besides her husband she is survived by her children, Amy K. Nield of Warwick and Jeffrey A. Nield and his wife Jade of Lee, NH; five grandchildren, Justin and Emma Gammell, Kai, Lila and Sadie Nield and her sister, Gayle Nunes of Warren. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 10 am 12 noon, with a funeral service at 12 noon in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Burial will be private.
