Rita Mae (Chartier) Tetu, age 99, formerly of Warwick RI, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2022, at Brookdale South Bay surrounded by her loving family. Rita was the beloved wife of the late Maurice (Moe) A Tetu for 52 years.
Born in Esmond, RI, she was the daughter of Adolph and Emma Chartier. Rita enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, needlework and Scrabble. She loved listening to music and playing her piano. Her love and passion for nurturing her perennial and annual gardens has been passed on to her children. A graduate of Saint Xavier Academy, Rita worked as a stenographer for Title Guarantee in Providence after raising her family. Her heart was always at home, where she was happiest being a homemaker, mother, and wife to her best friend, Moe.
Rita was a devoted mother. She is survived by her five children and their spouses; Suzanne Mastrangelo and her husband Ralph of Danielson, CT; Thomas Tetu of Saunderstown, RI; Cynthia Marchesseault and her husband Robert of North Kingstown, RI; Edward Tetu, and his wife Gloria of West Warwick, RI; Janine Twomey and her husband Gene, of Westborough, MA, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren as well as her sister-in-law; Joyce. Rita was preceded in death by her brother; Francis Chartier.
She maintained her strong spirit and wonderful sense of humor until the end.
Rita’s family is grateful to the nurses and entire staff at Brookdale South Bay for their consistent loving care of their mom.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 26th at 10 am in Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Rd, Kingston, RI 02881. Burial will be private. Funeral services can be viewed via livestream at: https://www.youtube.com/user/ChristtheKingVideos.
