Rita Elizabeth Hicks

Rita “Gaugi” (McLean) Hicks passed away peacefully, at the age of 98, in South Kingstown, RI.

Ms. Hicks was born in New Brunswick, NJ in 1924. She married Leroy Hicks at age 18 and, as a military family, they moved frequently to locations in Indiana, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. She finally settled in South Kingstown, RI for the last 28 years.

She is survived by her two children, Patricia Grigalunas of Narragansett, RI and Michael Hicks of Peabody, MA. She also leaves her grandchildren, Susan Sancomb and Thomas A. Grigalunas, Jr.; Kristin, Lynne, Jonathan, Emily and Rachel Hicks; as well as seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The family would like to thank the incredible staff at South Kingstown Nursing and Rehabilitation for all of their care and kindness, as well as Hope Hospice for providing tremendous comfort in Rita’s final days.
