Rita B. Gagne

Rita B. Gagne, 76, of Wakefield, died Friday. She was the wife of Joseph R. Gagne for 58 years. Born in Central Falls, she was a daughter of the late Alphonse and Josephine (Beland) Gasse. Mrs. Gagne was the former owner of Michele’s Beauty Salon in Central Falls and was a member of Christ the King Church for 20 years, where she was a member of its choir. She volunteered at the Store House soup kitchen, providing meals for the needy in South County. Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Dr. Kathryne Leonard and her husband Dr. Robert Leonard of Narragansett; three grandchildren, Alexandra, Michael and Victoria; she was a sister to Herve Gasse of Middleboro, MA and the late Dolores Berard; an aunt to many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 AM Tuesday at Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Road, Kingston. Burial will follow in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Monday 5-8 PM.
