Richard E. Wheeler, Jr.

Richard E. Wheeler, Jr., 54, of North Stonington, CT, unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord on Saturday April 5th. He was the beloved husband of Kateri (Sweet) Wheeler. Born in Providence, he was a son of the Naomi (Shepherd) Hulting of Florida and the late Richard E. Wheeler, and step-son o Gill Hulting of Florida. Mr. Wheeler was a Structural Designer at Electric Boat, where he has been employed for over thirty years. He was a member of New Hope Chapel for the past ten years and has been serving as a deacon for the last two years. He enjoyed kayaking, fishing, hiking, camping and spending time with his family. Besides his wife, mother and step-father he is survived by three sons, Dustin Wheeler of Washington, Nathan and Daniel Wheeler , both of North Stonington, CT; two sisters, Holly Wheeler of Colorado and Robin Linden and her husband Jim of Coventry. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale. Visiting hours are Wednesday, 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Providence Rescue Mission, 627 Cranston Street, Providence, RI 02907-2813.
