Richard A. Warford, 65, of Wakefield R.I., passed away Wednesday, January 10th, at Morton Plant Hospital, in Clearwater Florida. Rick was the husband of the late Susan D.G. Warford and father of his beloved sons Matthew and Lucas and daughter-in-law Paula. Rick was born in Newark, NJ to John and Doris Warford and was the brother of John Warford and the late Nancy De Lorenzco. He is survived by John and his wife Penni, Jeff and Donna Gruskay, Nancy Gruskay, Mark Gershman, his companion Jen Sweet, as well as his loving extended family and friends. Rick graduated from Livingston High School in 1970 and Ramapo College of New Jersey in 1976. He moved to Boulder, Colorado, where he met the love of his life, Susan. In the years that followed, Rick and Sue had two sons, Matthew and Lucas, and moved to Rhode Island, where Rick opened Sound Wave Records and Tapes, sharing his love of music with his customers, many of whom became friends. After the store closed, Rick went on to work in the non-profit and public sectors in South Kingstown, serving the needs of the community. Rick loved sharing older music, like the Grateful Dead, and discovering new music, like the Low Anthem and Joe Pug. He loved his dogs, Karuna and Digger and then later Dakota and Sadie, playing golf, going to the coffee with his friends, and watching the New York Yankees. He spent his summers at the beach in Rhode Island and honing his grillmaster skills. Rick's greatest love was for his family. He was a steadfast and loving husband to Sue for 33 years and took great pride in his raising his two boys and watching them grow into young men. Rick was unwaveringly kind, caring, and friendly. He will be greatly missed by many. Visiting hours will be held Monday, January 15, at Avery Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St Wakefield RI 02879 from 10:30am-12:00pm.
