Richard C. Lessmann

Richard C. Lessmann, 76, of Narragansett, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2018. He was the husband of Ann (Pervier) Lessmann. Born in New York City, he was the son of the late Albert J.L. Lessmann and Helen (Freder) Lessmann. Richard received his Masters Degree from Syracuse University and his PhD from Brown University. Richard was a Professor Emeritus of Mechanical Engineering at URI where he worked for 39 years before retiring. When not working he enjoyed advising students especially helping the freshman transition into college. In his spare time he liked to draw, paint, woodworking and spending time with his family. Besides his wife he is survived by his sons Jeremy J. Lessmann and his wife Lisa Gloss-Lessmann of Pullman, WA, Christopher C. Lessmann and his wife Elizabeth Guild-Lessmann of Narragansett, and Timothy L. Lessmann and his wife Cynthia of Narragansett; grandchildren Samuel, Taylor and Torey Lessmann. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11am in Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 383 Old North Rd, Kingston. Burial will be private. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 4-6pm in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St, Wakefield.
