Richard H. Fogarty, 92, of Wakefield, died on August 17, 2014. He was the husband of the late Louise M. (Bellavance) Fogarty. Born in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Maurice Fogarty and Alice (Crimmins) Fogarty. He is survived by his son, Richard H. Fogarty, Jr., husband of Taylor S. (Czoch) Fogarty, of Colorado; his daughter Diane M.B. Fogarty of Wakefield; and three granddaughters, Jenifer L. Fogarty, Alexis D. (Fogarty) Dickson, and Sarah D. (Fogarty) Barker, all of Colorado. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Fogarty, I.H.M., of Immaculata, Pennsylvania. He is predeceased by a brother, Maurice Fogarty, and a sister, Alice Ann (Fogarty) Noble. Richard was a veteran of World War II, having served with the United States Navy Seabees in Okinawa and Saipan. Following the war, he was employed as a steamfitter until being appointed apprentice instructor for the Joint Apprenticeship Committee, a coalition of contractors and Steamfitters Local Union 420 in Philadelphia. Beginning in 1958, he worked as a field sales representative for leading manufacturers in the valves, fittings and piping products industry. At the time of his retirement in 1983, he held the position of Vice President - International Division for NIBCO, Inc., headquartered in Elkhart, Indiana. Richard and his late wife traveled extensively. He was a keen follower of politics and an avid reader. He was also a serious fan of opera, not only attending performances but also participating in courses on the history of opera. Richard was laid to rest at Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery following a private ceremony.
