Richard A. Buscher, 77, of Wakefield, died Tuesday. He was the husband of Janet (Proulx)Poirier and the late Mary (Ferrando) Buscher. Born in White Plains, NY, he was a son of the late John and Beatrice (Cook) Buscher. Mr. Buscher was a firefighter with the White Plains, NY Fire Department for 20 years retiring as a Lieutenant in 1977, then he owned and operated a roofing company until 1993. He moved to Rhode Island in 1994. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the New York Police & Fire Retiree Association. Besides his wife he is survived by three children, Vincent A. Buscher of CT, John A. Buscher of Scituate, RI, Kathy Ann DiFabio of Exeter, NH; a brother, Robert P. Buscher of CT; a sister Gladys Wallace of FL; three step-children, Michael Bernard of Burrivlle, RI, James Bernard of West Palm Beach, FL, Cheryl A. Kennedy of Warwick; and five grandchildren. He was the father of the late Richard A. Buscher, Jr. and brother of the late Doris A. Arone. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 9 AM at St. Thomas More Church, Narragansett. Burial with military honors will follow in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Thursday 5-8 PM.
