Reginald E. Gadrow, 88, of Kingston, passed away Monday. He was the beloved husband of Shirley (Holland) Friel Gadrow for 25 years. Born in South Kingstown, he was a son of the late Reginald E. and Mary (Murney) Gadrow. Mr. Gadrow graduated from South Kingstown High School and the University of Rhode Island, where he was an accomplished athlete in high school and college, quarterbacking each schools football team. After graduating from URI, he moved to Ohio to start his own business, and he returned to Rhode Island during the early 1970s. He enjoyed going to the beach, wintering in Florida, and was an enthusiastic sports fan. He was a Lieutenant in the United States Army, serving honorably during the Korean Conflict, and he was a member of the South Kingstown Elks Lodge. Besides his wife, he is survived by two children, James Gadrow of Cincinnati, OH and Barbara Zabriskie of Baltimore, MD, a step-son, Dennis Friel of Kingston; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and two sisters Mary Boynton of Rockville, MD and Betty Walton of Punta Gorda, FL. He was the step father of the late Bradley Friel and Holly Friel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High Street, Wakefield. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Friday, 4-7 pm.
