Raymond H Meloche Jr., of Charlestown, passed away July 10th. Born in Ypsilanti, Michigan on August 27th, 1950 to the late Raymond and Beatrice (LaFramboise) Meloche Sr. He was the beloved Husband of Janice Meloche (Malone) for 48 years. Ray grew up in Detroit with 6 sisters where he attended Salesian Catholic High School and graduated in 1968. Went on to serve his county in the US Navy from 1969 – 1973 and was on the USS Nautilus SSN 571. He met the love of his life in Groton CT as his ship was stationed. He and Janice wed on July 29, 1972. They made a home in Detroit, MI from 1973 – 1989 where they were Parishioners at St. Thomas Aquinas. They spent his remaining years in Charlestown RI. Ray was retired from Toray Plastics, Inc and was currently working for Washington Trust Bank where he ensured that everyone got their mail on time along with a smile and a joke or two. He will be sadly missed by many that loved his caring spirit, his kindness and his sense of humor. He enjoyed his retirement with many hobbies and clubs to include Bowling, Ham Radio armature licensee (call sign KC1NCA), NRA, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Sub Vets and the Nautilus Alumni. His favorite pastime was coming up with a good joke to tell anyone that would listen. On Saturday, July 10. Ray’s very brief battle with an aggressive form of cancer let him go quickly and peacefully as his family surrounded him. May he enjoy his homecoming with his loved ones that have gone before him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithfully departed rest in Peace. Ray is survived by his children; Roberta and Keith. His grandson; Jacob. He is also survived by his sisters; Patricia (Late Steven) Hardy, Donna (David) Hinks, Elizabeth (Late John) Duncan, Katherine Ricardo, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by the late M. Margaret (William) Rudel, Marie (Thomas) Kelly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Romuald Chapel, 61 Atlantic Ave Matunuck, RI, at 11:00 am on Friday July 16, 2021. Military Burial immediately following in Veterans Cemetery Exeter, RI.
