Raymond Bergeron, 82, of Providence passed away with family by his side on April 19, 2025. He was the son of the late Philip and Irene Bergeron. He was the beloved husband of Carol Bergeron (Rogers) for 61 years.
Ray attended LaSalle Academy and upon graduation enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. After he honorably served in the Coast Guard, Ray became a Providence firefighter and earned an associate degree in fire science from the Community College of Rhode Island.
Ray was a man of open roads and open arms. His greatest joys in life were simple but profound: walking under wide skies, floating effortlessly in a turquoise ocean or in a pool, and sharing conversation with anyone lucky enough to cross his path. Ray carried with him an adventurous spirit. He loved both meandering road trips and repeatedly visiting his favorite locations. And wherever he went, he made friends—through laughter and his never-ending stories.
Besides his wife, Carol, Ray leaves behind his three children, Jean Willette and her husband Richard Willette of South Kingstown, RI, Christine Bergeron of Port Charlotte, FL, and Raymond John “RJ” Bergeron of Cranston, RI, as well as loving grandchildren Zachary, Lauren, and Max Willette and Emma Bergeron. He is also survived by his sister, Joan Miga, of Warwick, RI, and his sister-in-law, Shirley Bergeron, of Cranston, RI. Ray is predeceased by his brothers, Philip Jr,, Bob, Bill, and sister, Eileen.
