Ralph R. Defusco

June 20, 1949 — February 19, 2014

Ralph DeFusco, 64, of Narragansett, died unexpectedly on Wednesday February 19th. He was the beloved husband of Ellen (Reilly) DeFusco. Born in Warwick, he was a son of the late Ralph and Helene (Pothier) DeFusco-Fitzsimmons. Ralph enjoyed collecting arrowheads, and artifacts from the shores of southern Rhode Island. He will be remembered as a lifetime learner who loved astronomy and history. He was a loyal Red Sox and Patriot’s fan. Ralph served in the Air Force during the Viet Nam War as a jet engine mechanic in Thailand. He spent the remainder of his enlistment at Loring Air Force Base in Caribou, Maine. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son Ralph Daniel DeFusco of Narragansett; a daughter Shannon Burke McCarthy of East Providence; a brother Edward DeFusco of Wakefield; a sister Judith (DeFusco) Ray of Jamestown; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother of the late Robert DeFusco, David DeFusco, and Evelyn (DeFusco) Gardner. A memorial service will be held at Peace Dale Congregational Church, 261 Columbia Street, Peace Dale, RI at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2014. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ralph DeFusco's Family Support Trust, Middlesex Savings Bank, PO Box 410, Southborough, MA 01772, or dropped off at any Middlesex Bank branch.
