Ralph W. "Aggie" Browning, 82, of Matunuck Beach Rd., Wakefield, died Saturday October 10, 2009, at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of the late Charlotte D. (Jones) Browning. Born in South Kingstown, he was a son of the late Harold W. and Mary E. (Williams) Browning. Ralph graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1950 with a BS degree in Civil Engineering. Mr. Browning retired from Gilbane Building Company in 1993 as Vice President of Operations after more than 35 years of service. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Kingston Congregational Church. Mr. Browning served on the South Kingstown Town Council during the 1960's and served as President during his term. He had a life long love of the water, and he especially enjoyed crabbing and boating. He could be often found working on his stone wall or clearing brush. He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and was an avid card and game player. He was the father of Susan Browning-Rudzin, Ralph Jr, Christopher, Thomas and Mary Ellen Browning; grandfather of seven; brother of Harold Browning, Beatrice Parker and David Browning. A memorial service will be held Saturday November 7th at 3:00 PM in the Kingston Congregational Church, 2610 Kingstown Rd., Kingston. Burial will be private.
