R. David Smith

R. David Smith, 48, of West Shore Dr., died Sunday at home. He was the husband of Patricia E. Smith. Born in Providence, he was the son of Johanna (Sullivan) Smith-Henly of Wakefield and the late James S. Smith. David was a Community Living Aide for the State of RI for 31 years before retiring due to illness. Besides his wife and mother he leaves a daughter, Amy Lynn Smith of Wakefield; a sister, Maryellen Smith and a nephew Russell C. Koza III both of Peace Dale; a step son, Lee Downing and a step daughter, Michelle Pelchatt both of RI; six step brothers and four step sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High St., Wakefield. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday 5-8 PM in the AVERY-STORTI Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield.
