Priscilla T. Chappell

April 17, 1932 — April 3, 2024

Priscilla Tourgee Chappell, 91, of South Kingstown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 3rd. Born in Charlestown, RI, she was the beloved daughter of the late Earl Tourgee and Edna (Clark) Tourgee. She had an active, joyful life with her husband of thirty years, the late Kenneth C. Chappell, including ballroom roller skating, playing the trumpet together, and attending drum and bugle corps events.


Priscilla lived her life with passion, was very involved in the local community and an expert in local history. She was active in the Daughter's of the American Revolution (DAR) and held many roles during her forty five years of membership including curating the collection of local history books donated annually to the Peace Dale Public Library. She was also active in the RI Genealogical Society, the North Kingstown Genealogical Society, and the Society of Mayflower Descendants, among others.


She is survived by her loving family; children, Lynda Towhill of Tampa, FL, and Christopher Chappell and his wife Lynn Chappell of Narragansett, RI; grandchildren Kristin Towhill of Charlestown, RI, Lisa Souza of Tampa, FL, and Kenneth Chappell of Forks, WA; as well as two adored great grandchildren, Jayden Souza and Arisan Souza of Tampa, FL.


A memorial service will be performed at a later date.
