Phyllis A. Hoffman

Phyllis A. Hoffman (Braendle), 86, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Richard Earl Hoffman. Born in Freeport, MI, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Annabel (Friend) Braendle. Mrs. Hoffman was a teacher for Allentown, PA and Joliet, IL Public School Systems for many years before retiring; an active member of the Christ United Methodist Church; a peace and social justice activist; a graduate of St. Francis University of Joliet, IL; enjoyed traveling abroad and domestically; was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan and shared a love for animals with her son William. She is survived by her children, William W. Hoffman of Peace Dale, Richard E. Hoffman and his wife Louella of Marengo, IN, Elizabeth J. Miller and her husband David of Bullhead City, AZ, Marilou Greboval of Peace Dale and Kathryn S. Hoffman of Allentown, PA; a sister, Helena Riekse of Grand Rapids, MI; a brother, Neil Braendle of Hastings, MI; four grandchildren, Evan J. Hoffman, Autumn Hoffman, Julien Greboval and his fiance’ Diana Betancourth and Matthew Hoffman and wife Danielle and a great-grandson, Zayid Amedeo Hoffman. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, January 13, 2014, at 12 noon in the Christ United Methodist Church, 2291 Kingstown Rd., Kingston. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
