Phylis Joyce Butcher

Joyce Butcher, 83, of Hope Valley, RI, beloved wife of Robert Butcher died on June 23, 2014 at South County Hospital. Joyce was born on April 17, 1931 in Wheelock Vermont to the late Burton and Arlene (Blake) Currier. Joyce did many things with her life. She attended Peace Dale Congregational Church until her move to Hope Valley Rhode Island. She sang in the choir, played hand bells, and taught Sunday School. She was also a member of the Nestell Chapter Six OES in Wakefield Rhode Island. The thing that she enjoyed most was being a wife, a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and baking for all of them. She was the mother to the late Peter D Kenney, and survived by Phillip D Kenney of Guilford, CT, Rhonda A Lopes of Peace Dale, RI, and Kevin C Kenney of Charlestown, RI. She is also survived by six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Joyce was loved by many, especially by her husband Bob of nearly fifty-two years of marriage. She will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of RI, 11 Charles Drive, Portsmouth, RI 02871. The memorial service will be held at New Hope, 80 Richmond Townhouse Road, Richmond, RI, adjoining Washington County Fairgrounds. The date and time for the service is to be announced.
