William F. Kelly, Ph. D, 90, of Wakefield, passed away Monday, October 9th. He was the husband of Patricia (Smith) Kelly and the late Elizabeth (Egan) Kelly. Born in Somerville, MA, he was a son of the late William and Annette Kelly. Dr. Kelly was a professor of Elementary Education at the University of Rhode Island for twenty-three years, retiring in 1989. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Besides his wife he is survived by six children, Lilyne Hollingworth, Mary Beth Schmitt, Sharon Toti, William Kelly, John Kelly, and Maureen Baxter; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Kathleen Watson, Margaret Dynarski, and Joseph Kelly. Visiting hours will be at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Friday from 8:30 – 9:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High Street, Wakefield. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale.
