Peter S. Richards

Peter Stephen Richards a resident of Charlestown passed away on August 26, 2023 at Westerly Hospital with his family by his side.

He was the husband of Kathleen (Thatcher) Richards, for sixty years and the son of the late Roland Edward Richards and Jane (Wells) Richards (Mann). Stepmother Eileen Moen Richards.

He served in the US ARMY from 1955-1958 as a paratrooper 511th airborne, F Company in Augsburg, Germany. His career included work at general dynamics, electric boat in Groton, CT, and North Kingstown, RI as a machinist-supervisor. Posi-seal, Bob Mills and son, South County Sand and Gravel. He served as a constable in charlestown and was an EMT and 1st president of the Charlestown Ambulance Corp. His interests included coaching little league, umpiring, tennis, bike riding, motorcycles, old cars, and traveling. He was a member of Shannock Bapitist Church since childhood.

Peter leaves behind 3 children, Scott Richards of Charlestown, Heather Richards of Ledyard, Ct, Jill Lusk of Charlestown; 2 grandchildren Joshua Tefft and Seth Richards; 2 great granddaughters, Adalyn and Savanna. Along with a brother and sisters; Brian Richards and wife Diane, Susan Richards and husband Roy Fuller, Heidi Perreault and husband Robert, Carol Cinquegrana, Mandy Humphries and husband Vincent, Michelle Mann, the late Peggy Smith, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 9:30 am in Shannock Baptist Church, 1631 Shannock Rd, Charlestown, RI 02875. Burial to follow at Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, RI.
