In Loving Memory of Peter Peter (Pete) Michael Melchiori was born June 23, 1976. He passed away unexpectedly on Thursday May 21st. Sadly, Peter leaves behind his son Hunter Cerro, his parents, Barbara and Edward Melchiori, his brothers, Matthew, wife Roxanne, Marc, wife Kersten, as well as his three nieces, Madeline, Lillian, Helena and his nephew Jack. He also leaves behind his two grandmothers, Lillian (92) and Mary (93) several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was a devoted son to his mother as she was deeply devoted to him. He and his Dad loved sports, particularly soccer, sailing, and world political events. Peter grew up in Wallingford, CT where he made many lifelong friends. He attended Hamden Hall Country Day School in Hamden, CT. He received his undergraduate degree from Ithaca College in Ithaca NY before earning his Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology at Connecticut College in New London, CT. Peter loved animals and had many pets throughout his life. He was particularly fond of his cat Oliver or “Ollie” as he called him. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed adventure in the natural environment. Upon completing college, and drove and camped his way throughout the entire U.S conquering many challenges that only few can achieve in the National Parks. He was a very skilled skier and snow boarder. He twice completed downhill runs in the Canadian Rockies after taking helicopters to the summit of each mountain. Peter played soccer in grade school and was selected for the varsity team in his freshman year of high school and joined the Connecticut State Soccer Travel Team as well as an amateur soccer club as a full back. Peter and his Dad were always glued to the World Cup events every four years and constantly debated the key players and moves that led to each championship. He and his family enjoyed sailing as they spent many of his younger days sailing the waters of Rhode Island Sound, Block Island Sound and Nantucket Sound, as well as the Caribbean and the Virgin Islands. Peter found serenity Charlestown, as he spent countless hours walking the sands along the beach, hiking trails at Trustom Pond and enjoying the beauty of nature from his deck. Peter worked as a clinical counselor working with alcohol and drug dependent patients for many years. He was the owner of Coastal Cleaning, and recently spent the last several years working alongside of his brother Matt at Narragansett Dock Works. He enjoyed his work and the camaraderie of his co-workers. Peter will always be remembered as a loving and devoted son, best friend to both of his brothers, a practical joker with his brother Marc, and a sincere and fun uncle. He was a very kind soul and a person who anyone would want to get to know and have as a friend. His big heart, genuinely sincere personality, and his ability to listen to other people without judgment was his exceptional gift. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him as he touched many lives around him. Services for Peter will be held in private for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, Peter would have been humbled and grateful for a kind and generous gift that would be useful to God’s creatures which he loved so dearly.
