Peter Veit Dierauf, 73, of Wakefield, RI died peacefully at home on December 6th. He was born July 16, 1947 to Frank Dierauf, Jr. and Julia K. Dierauf. The son of a career army officer, Peter grew up in and around various posts in Okinawa, Germany, Kentucky and Florida. He began high school in South Kingstown, RI while his father taught ROTC at the University of Rhode Island. He completed high school at The Manlius School in NY state, graduating in 1965. After Manlius, he enrolled at the University of Virginia but soon enlisted in the Army, serving two tours in Viet Nam. Once discharged, he returned to UVA to finish his degree. Upon completion, he moved to California to pursue a creative career in Hollywood but turned his talents to working in marketing. A trip to RI to attend a high school reunion led to his moving back to RI and a marriage. In RI, he began working for Cox Cable and quickly moved up to executive positions in Spokane, WA, Virginia Beach, VA and corporate headquarters in Atlanta, GA. He retired from Cox and moved to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico where he was active in the arts and built several homes which he marketed and sold. He leaves his former wife and still good friend, Diana Dierauf, a stepdaughter, Tracy Hartman and her husband, Clay, a stepson, Todd de Wardener and his wife, Jen and grandsons, Jack Hartman and William and Luke de Wardener, a sister, Gillian Dierauf of Greenfield, NH and a brother, Mark Dierauf and his wife, Jayne of Concord, NH. Inurnment will be at a private ceremony at Greenvale Cemetery in Greenfield, NH at a later date. His family is grateful to the doctors, nurses and staff at South County Hospital, Apple Clipper Rehabilitation Center and Rhode Island Hospital for the care given to Peter and also to the doctors, nurses and staff at Hope Health Company for their compassionate care of Peter and support to his family.
