Peter A. Corrigan, 78, of Narragansett, passed away Sunday. He was the beloved husband of Nora Elizabeth (Wholey) Corrigan for 52 years. Born in Newburgh, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Francis (King) Corrigan. He graduated from Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, NY, the University of Notre Dame, and Columbia Teacher’s College. He was Co-Chairman of the Mathematics Department at Stepinac and coached football, basketball, and baseball. Peter was an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Westchester Community College in Valhalla, NY where he was a member of the Faculty Senate. He co-developed a course in the History of Mathematics and created a solution key to the Speigel Applied Differential Equations text. He was Director of Camp Siwanoy, Hutchinson River Council, Boy Scouts of America, Wingdale, NY where he started as a pot boy. Peter was a longtime resident and past president of the Third Bayshore Condominium Association, Bradenton, FL. He was an avid tennis player, golfer, fisherman, and hunter. He was widely read, especially in Naval War History and the American Civil War. He loved music and cooking, and spent many years as an avid chess player. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am, Thursday in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High Street, Wakefield. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Wednesday, 4-8 pm.
