Patricia Farrell Zeiser

Patricia (Farrell) Zeiser, 86, a figure skating coach for over 45 years, died Friday, after a period of failing health. Before moving to South County in 2004, she lived in Rumford for 50 years with her husband, the late Robert H. Zeiser. Born in Providence, and raised in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Charles L. Farrell, MD and Mary Ann ( Murphy) Farrell. She was a graduate of the College of St. Elizabeth in New Jersey. Pat was a Master rated figure skating coach by the Professional Skaters Association International. Over the years her students ranged from nationally competitive skaters to youngsters in local Learn to Skate programs. When the National Figure Skating Championships were held in Providence in 1995, she choreographed and directed the Opening Number using Special Olympians from throughout the region. She was a charter member of the Providence Figure Skating Club, a member and former board member of the Pawtucket-Providence Figure Skating Club, a former member of the South County Hospital Auxiliary and former volunteer at Scallop Shell Nursing Home. She enjoyed membership at the Dunes Club for more than 50 years. She is survived by her children, Catherine Zeiser Taggart and her husband David of Charlestown, Christopher Zeiser of Seymour, CT and J. Nicholas Zeiser and wife Bobi of Tiverton; seven grandchildren and two great-granddaughters; and a sister Elizabeth F. Hogan of Wakefield. She was the sister of the late Charles L. Farrell, Jr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Wednesday in St. Thomas More Church, 53 Rockland Street, Narragansett. Burial will be private in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Tuesday, 4-7 pm.
