Patricia F. Mcgovern

Patricia McGovern, 96, of South Kingstown, passed away on December 8th at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was the beloved wife of the late Leo McGovern for 66 years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Agnes (Reynolds) and the late Patrick Keegan, and the sister of the late Barbara Brennan and the late Mary Morra. Patricia was a long-time member of the Green Hill Beach Club and the Matunuck Community Association. She was also an active participant in local theater, both here in Rhode Island and in Fort Myers, Florida. Patricia was also the owner of Patricia’s Sewing Center in Warwick, Rhode Island. Patricia was an avid football and basketball fan, particularly the New England Patriots and the Providence Friars. She was a staunch Democrat and made sure you knew it. She loved painting watercolors and ceramics, playing bridge, and most importantly spending time with friends and family. Patricia was the mother of four children including her late son Dennis McGovern, and her three daughters: Kathleen McGovern, Maureen Hart (husband Peter and granddaughter Keegan), Donna Dolan (husband John and grandchildren John, Kelly and Michael along with great-grandchildren; Leo and Luke). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday December 14th at 10 am in St. Romuald Chapel, 61 Atlantic Ave, South Kingstown, RI 02879. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, December 13th from 4-7 pm in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the hospice organization HopeHealth or the South Kingstown Land Trust.
