Patricia A. Keenan

Patricia Anne Keenan, 68, of Wakefield, passed away Thursday at South County Hospital with her beloved husband of 43 years, Richard F. Keenan, and her two children at her side. Mrs. Keenan moved to Wakefield in 1979 with her family where they lived on the corner of Kenyon Ave. and Pleasant St. for more than two decades. She earned a college degree while working and raising her kids after attending night school. She was employed by MetLife where she worked in various roles, and retired from Siemens Corp., where she managed an IT group. After retirement she took up bridge and volunteered at the Johnnycake Center in Peace Dale. She spent much time in her beloved flower gardens which were always meticulously maintained and full of vibrancy. Mrs. Keenan loved reading and participating in book discussions. Mrs. Keenan was a dedicated mom, grandmother and wife. She and her husband were also best friends and cherished each other’s company, and spending time with friends throughout South County and family throughout the country. She was a member of Christ the King parish in Kingston. Mrs. Keenan excelled at bowling, and looked forward to friendly matches at Old Mountain Lanes on Sundays. She enjoyed visiting with relatives from Syracuse, NY, Key Biscayne, FL, South Carolina and Atlanta, among other places. “Mimi” treasured her time with her five grandchildren, especially the many happy summers spent at Narragansett Town Beach building sandcastles, collecting seashells and taking long walks to Narrow River. Besides her husband, Mrs. Keenan leaves a son, Kevin and his wife, Andrea (Caprio) of Acton, MA; a daughter, Aileen Baker, and her husband Brian, of Portsmouth. She also leaves five grandchildren, Hannah, Caitlyn and Jay of Acton, MA, and Lindsay and Sarah Baker of Portsmouth. She was the daughter of the late Albert C. and Helen (Callan) Doody and was raised in Franklin Square, NY. She graduated from Sewanhaka High School in Floral Park, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 28, 2013, at 10 AM in Christ the King Church,180 Old North Rd., Kingston. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery. Visiting hours Sunday 3-5 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions in Mrs. Keenan's memory may be made to the Jonnycake Center, 1231 Kingstown Rd., Peace Dale, RI 02879 or Stand Up to Cancer.
