Patricia Ann Cox, 81 of Kingston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 2 with her daughter and son-in-law by her side. Born in Middletown, New York, Pat met and married her true love, the late David Cox. They spent 62 cherished years raising three children and loving the life they had built together. Pat started her married life in Rhode Island when Dave was a Navy Seabee. They eventually settled in upstate New York. They enjoyed living by Cayuga Lake and became avid sailors. Pat was active in the community and their church which established many lifelong friendships. She was a homemaker and raised her children with an abundance of patience, humor, and love. Her home was always welcoming with an open invitation to anyone passing by. As an empty nester, she ran a successful interior design business with a partner. Upon retirement, Pat and Dave moved back to their beloved Rhode Island to return to the place where they had started their married life together. Pat had a passion for traveling. Together, they wandered through 48 states and most of Europe. She filled her time decorating, painting, sewing, gardening, and loving her happy humble home. She cherished her family, grandchildren, and friends. Pat had a knack for meeting people. She had the wonderful ability of striking up a conversation wherever she landed and enjoyed many cherished friendships. She was deeply committed to her church and community. Pat was preceded in death by her husband, David. She is survived by her 3 children, Jeffrey Cox (Ann) of New Port Richey, Florida; Laurie Cox-Schreiber (Robert) of Andover, Massachusetts; and Randy Cox (Susan) of Niles, Ohio. Pat is also survived by many treasured grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as beloved in-laws, Austin (Lois) Cox of Rhinebeck, New York; and Elizabeth Gedney of Whiting, New Jersey. A memorial service to honor Pat will be scheduled at a later date. Donations in memory of Pat may be made to the Kingston Congregational Church, 2610 Kingstown Road, Kingston, RI 02881.
