Pastor Eugene S. Carpenter

Pastor Eugene S. Carpenter, 92, of Peace Dale, passed away Friday, August 9, 2024 at South County Hospital. He was the husband of the late Jeanne (Corbett) Carpenter. Born in Fountain City, Tennessee, he was a son of the late Rev. Edward L. Carpenter, Sr. and Bessie (Starr) Carpenter.

He was a minister for the Rocky Brook Advent Christian Church in Peace Dale, RI for many years before retiring. Eugene was a US Army Veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his children, David Carpenter and his wife Norma, Elizabeth McPherson, and Charles Carpenter, seven grandchildren, Allison Carpenter and her fiancé Timothy Daugan, Jennifer Clarke, Meredith Mackintosh, Rachel Wilf, Courtland McPherson, Daniel Carpenter and Christopher Carpenter, and eight great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Roy Carpenter, and brother of the late Edward, Charles, Joseph Carpenter, Marilyn Miner and Carolyn Dickerson.

Pastor Eugene’s funeral will be held Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 11 AM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St. Wakefield. Burial with military honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours will be Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 5 to 7 PM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home.
