Owen Leo Tefft

Owen L. Tefft, 85, of South Kingstown, passed away Tuesday, May 10th, 2022 at South County Hospital. He was the husband of the late Margaret M. (McNulty) Tefft. Born in Richmond, he was the son of the late Thomas “Frank” and Marie (Pelletier) Tefft. Owen enjoyed farming and taking care of his chickens, dog, and other animals that he loved. In his spare time, he would collect and fix inexpensive cars. Owen loved the Rhode Island traditional favorites treats, coffee ice cream, Dell’s Lemonade, and Awful Awful milkshakes. He was well known to many children as “Grandpa” when he would drive the bus ministry. He is survived by his five children, Michael Tefft and his wife Gail, Louise Ann Landry, Owen Lee Tefft and his wife Jodi, Chris Tefft and his wife Brenda Kay, Paula Dimon and her husband Jeff, and a close family friend Yuko Pearlman and sixteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Brenda Lee Langlais and grandfather of the late Zakaria Tefft. A funeral service will be held Monday, May 16th, 2022 at 11 AM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours for Owen will be held Sunday, 3-6 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Wood River Baptist Church, 246 Kingstown Rd, Wyoming, RI 02898 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC, 20090-6011.
