Ophelia Prescutti, 92, of Narragansett, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Ophelia was the loving wife of the late Fredrick Prescutti, with whom she enjoyed 37 years of marriage.
She loved to cook and bake and feed everybody; if you were hungry, she would happily make something for you and say, "Mangia!" Her pizza left your taste buds wanting more. As a very talented seamstress, she could be found cutting up fabrics and sewing dresses, pants, and jackets. Snow or rain never stopped her stylish self from going out and having a great time. She loved playing bingo and cards with her friends and enjoyed her trips to Foxwoods. She also loved to pull pranks and keep everyone on their toes. Her dry sense of humor will be sorely missed.
For many years, she worked at Trifari Jewelry Company as a jewelry maker. She took great pride in her work and was very detail-oriented. She didn't just work hard as a worker; she also devoted much of her time to her family. Nicknamed Phe-Phe by her granddaughter, she was very dedicated to helping raise her. She lived her life full of passion and gusto, and her strong will and fighting spirit remained until the very end.
Ophelia is survived by her beloved daughter Lori Prescutti, formally of Providence; granddaughter Nakita Prescutti, an artist and member of the Narragansett Indian Tribe; and brother Anthony Avarista and his wife Mary of Tennessee, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Luigi Avarista, the late Edward Avarista, and the late Salvatore Avarista Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at 11 am in St. Thomas More Church, 53 Rockland St, Narragansett, RI 02882. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery in Cranston.
