Nora (Wholey) Corrigan

May 31, 1942 — December 8, 2022

Nora Elizabeth (Wholey) Corrigan of Jerusalem, RI and Bradenton, FL died after a short and unexpected illness in Florida on December 8, 2022. She was the wife of the late Peter A. Corrigan and daughter of the late Helen (McGrath) Wholey and Judge Joseph Skeffington Wholey of Stillwater in Smithfield and Jerusalem, RI.


Nora is survived by her brother Joseph Wholey and sister-in-law Midge, brother Dennis Wholey, sister Ann Wholey and her partner Yon Yourn and double cousins Nonie DeSurra, Margie Wholey, Ralph Wholey, and their families. She is also survived by other family members; nephews, Skef, Kerry, Mark, and Patrick. Nieces; Megan, Jane, Sarah, and their families.


Nora was born on May 31, 1942 and was raised in Stillwater and Jerusalem. She attended Elmhurst Academy of the Sacred Heart in Providence and graduated from Manhatanville College of the Sacred Heart in New York. She received her M.A. from Western Connecticut College in Danbury and taught math at Mohopac Middle School for many years.


Nora was active, a daily walker of three or four miles every day. Her many interests included family, caregiving, the beach, gardening, Tai chi, watching tennis, maps, politics, reading, Anderson Cooper and The New York Times on Sunday and its crossword puzzle, which she always did in ink. She was also involved in civic and condominium activities in Jerusalem, a loyal supporter of the Hale Library in Matunuck and chaired the grounds committee at her Bay Shore Condominium in Bradenton.


A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 from 4-6 pm, in Avery Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St, Wakefield, RI 02879. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at 10 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High St, Wakefield, RI 02879. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery.


Nora was most generous and supported various charities throughout her lifetime. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to OXFAM America, P.O Box 97374, Washington D.C 20090 and Doctors without Borders USA, P.O Box 5030, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5030.
