Nicholas Picchione, II, 66, long time resident of Narragansett, passed away peacefully at South Kingstown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on 11/25. He was the beloved husband of Gail Picchione. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Nicholas E. and Ann O. Picchione. He is survived by stepson Brian Martin (Melissa), granddaughters Brianna & Hayli. Sisters Deb Baldwin (Jim), Nancy Avanzino (Steve) of Narragansett, Beth Day (Tom) of Porstmouth ,NH, Helen Graham(Glenn) of Greenland NH. He leaves 4 nieces and 4 nephews. Nick was a graduate of Moses Brown. He earned his BSBA with a major in accounting at University of Denver. He was President and CEO of Dome Publishing Company, founded by his grandfather, where he carried on the family legacy until his retirement. He was a proud member of the Young President Organization (YPO). Nick was a lifetime member at Point Judith Country Club. His most memorable golf trip was playing at St. Andrews in Scotland with his Dad, Jim and John. Nick loved sports & being outdoors. He enjoyed playing football, hockey and Lacrosse on the DU Varsity team. He enjoyed skiing at Waterville Valley, out west and abroad. Nick was an avid sport fisherman and a member of Atlantic Tuna Club. Fishing with friends and participating in many tournaments were his greatest pleasure. Summer excursions to Block Island were one of his favorite pastimes, and winters at his home in Florida. He participated in the Outward Bound Wilderness program, hiking and climbing throughout the US. Nick was a lifetime Patriots fan attending most home games, championships and 6 Super Bowls. His passion for history includes visiting historic battlegrounds and museums; he was most particularly moved when he experienced Normandy. Traveling to concerts with his many friends was always an event. Nick cherished his time spent with his wife and granddaughters whom he loved dearly. Nick had many friends. He valued every moment and talked of them often. He was a great storyteller with a wealth of deep knowledge. Nick loved having a good time and lived his life to the fullest; on his own terms. He had a huge heart and was very generous to everyone he came into contact with in his life. Nick was loved by many, and will truly be missed by all who loved him and knew him. Due to new Covid restrictions internment will be private. A memorable celebration will be announced at a later date to celebrate his life.
