Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Nicholas E. DeCesare passed away on April 1, 2014 at the age of 98. He was the son of the late Thomas and Caterina(Petorella) DeCesare of Providence, RI who both came to this country from Italy as young teenagers to chase the dream of life in America. Nick's life was a reflection of his parent's passion to provide for his family with the best life has to offer. His beloved wife Jeanne, whom he professed as the love of his life and personal angel, pre-deceased him in 1995. They met and married in Newark, NJ where she and her family had immigrated to from the same small town where his parents had left one generation earlier. Nick was a hard-working, dedicated man, who started his sales career with the Coca Cola Bottling Co. in Providence, and then moved on to a 30 plus year career as a salesman and District Manager for Thomas J. Lipton, Inc. In the 1950's he relocated his family to Manchester, CT where they lived until the early 90's, when he decided to return to his beloved RI to retire. Nick was an avid stock investor, and engaged in the world of business and finance with a passion. He is survived by his son, Nicholas Jr. of Flushing, NY and his partner Richard Weyhausen; daughter Jeanne Zimmermann and her husband, Peter of Milton, MA; daughter Cathryn DeCesare and her partner Salvatore Ribera of Wakefield, RI; and three cherished grandchildren: Andrew and his wife Jordan, Catherine and Michael. The funeral will be 9 a.m. Monday from the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Pt. Judith Road, Narragansett. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale.
