It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Nancy Lee (Whitney) McLaughlin, who peacefully passed away at home at the age of 93. She was the beloved wife of Robert V. McLaughlin for 72 years.
Born on January 12, 1932, in Taunton, MA, Nancy was the daughter of the late William and Ellen (Dias) Whitney. She was a woman of remarkable strength, kindness, and love, devoted to her family above all else.
Nancy was an assistant librarian at Matunuck School and previously worked as a bookkeeper for the Industrial National Bank. She was an active member of her community, serving as a Girl Scout leader and enjoying hobbies such as gardening, sewing, painting, knitting, and floral arranging. She was a proud member of the Arbutus Garden Club and enjoyed spending summers at Green Hill Beach Club. Nancy was also a devoted member of St. James Church.
In retirement, Nancy and Bob cherished their time traveling together. She loved spending holidays surrounded by her family, creating lasting memories and traditions that will be treasured for generations to come.
Her generosity knew no bounds. Whether offering a listening ear, lending a helping hand, or simply sharing her warmth, Nancy always put the needs of others before her own. Her unconditional love for her family was evident in everything she did, and her passion for being a mother and grandmother was unparalleled.
Nancy leaves behind her loving children, LeeAnn Hooper (Mark), Robert W. McLaughlin, Susan McCabe (the late James), and Laurie Ramaker (Sam), as well as her 11 cherished grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, all of whom were the light of her life. She was also the sister of Beverly Ann Harris and Rosemary Hastings, predeceased by William Whitney, Patricia Jean Collins, and Bruce Whitney.
