Nancy J. (Dyer) McKenna, 79, of Narragansett, RI passed away peacefully May 21, 2023. Born in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick and Dorothy (Rogers) Dyer. She was the beloved wife of James J. McKenna.
Nancy grew up in East Providence but raised her family in North Providence before moving to Narragansett. She was always known for her contagious laugh, beautiful smile and kind heart. She was an extremely generous, selfless person who would always put others before herself and offer to help anyone that needed it. Nancy worked in real estate for over twenty five years and was an avid supporter of her community by volunteering countless hours for causes she held near to heart. She enjoyed having fun with family and friends, playing cards, knitting, sports, shopping, reading, cooking and watching horse racing with an occasional “small” wager. Her greatest joy in life however, was the time she spent with her husband, children and grandchildren. “Nana” has created special memories with each of us that our hearts will hold onto forever.
Besides her husband, Nancy is survived by her loving children, Christine M. McKenna and James T. McKenna. She was the loving mother of the late Mathew D. McKenna. She is affectionately called “Nana” by her three grandchildren Michael J. Gallagher, MacKenzie M. Gallagher and Marc M. Gallagher and also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and amazing friends. Nancy is preceded in death by her sisters Mary Joan Rubrecht and Barbara Healey.
