Nancy lived a life of peace and tranquility, at home among nature and animals, she was a gentle soul with a dry wit and a hearty laugh. She was a lover of all things art, design, fashion, music, and fictional novels. Nancy grew up in Sharon, Pennsylvania and spent her summers as a child on Moonstone Beach in Matunuck, Rhode Island at the family’s beloved beach house. On those carefree summers by the ocean, she was the cool big sister and ring leader to her three younger siblings and cousins as they ran wild, playing on the beach and swimming in the ocean. Nancy attended RISD and URI where she developed her skills as a gifted artist. Her talents were expressed in everything she did, from ornate sculptures in the sand to woodworking to making clothes and jewelry, painting and interior design. She worked at Ruggieri Floor Covering for 40 years where her sense of color and design, patience and passion were sought after by her clients. She married her beloved husband of over 40 years, Tom, and settled in Exeter where they created a beautiful home in the woods with a back deck where Nancy loved to sit in the sun and read, light the fire in the fire pit and watch and listen to the many birds, rabbits, and squirrels, and a fox. One of her favorite places was Beavertail State Park in Jamestown where she, Tom, and their friends would hike, picnic, and snorkel off the rocky shoreline every Sunday. She was also an avid hiker and could be seen daily on the trails of Fisherville Wildlife refuge, Carr's Pond or Trustom Wildlife refuge. Nancy had a passion for food and culture, and throughout her life had the chance to explore places like Italy, France, and New York where she loved to visit the Opera, museums, and great restaurants. She had an exquisite sense of style, and was an avid shopper as well as a thoughtful gift-giver throughout her life – even to the very end. Nancy passed away peacefully on Saturday night in her home, surrounded by loved ones. She is survived by her husband Tom, and her siblings Chris, Mary Ann and Greg and Laura, Rick and Gail, and her nieces and nephew, Michael, Amelia, Olivia, and Vanessa, as well as her cats Raj and Miso. Donations in Nancy’s name can be made in lieu of flowers to The Audubon Society of Rhode Island at ASRI.ORG. The memorial services will be private due to Covid 19.
