Nancy Stark Hanson

Nancy Stark Hanson, 77, of Harbour Island, died Tuesday. She was the beloved wife of Donald W. Hanson and they were married 57 years. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Howard G. and Myrtle (Barker) Stark. Mrs. Hanson along with her husband, owned Brownings in East Greenwich for many years, until retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Ye King’s Towne Garden Club and was a talented seamstress. Besides her husband she is survived by three children, Gregory A. Hanson of Goldsboro, NC, Melinda H. Walter and her husband James of Charlotte, NC, Jay B. Hanson of Narragansett, a brother, H. Alan Stark of Maine, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and two daughter in laws, Doreen Hanson of Narragansett and Mary Smith of Wilmington, NC. She was the mother of the late Christopher Hanson. A private memorial service will be held in North Carolina at a later date.
