Nancy Griffin, 94, of Charlestown, Rhode Island, passed away August 22, 2024, with her family at her side. She was the beloved wife of the late James Griffin, her high school sweetheart of 64 years, and the daughter of the late Joseph and Irene Knox.
Nancy’s Hometown was Medford, MA, where she graduated from Medford High School. In late 1952, she graduated from Boston University, with a B.S. in Business Administration. Her summers were spent at the family cottage on Merchant’s Island in the Annisquam River in Gloucester, MA.
Nancy and Jim resided in Northridge, CA for the first 20 years of their marriage. In 1971, the family moved to Narragansett and later to Charlestown, RI. Nancy was employed by the Washington County Law Enforcement Planning Committee and then for 19 years at the University of Rhode Island, retiring in 1995 as Staff Assistant to the President.
Nancy’s passion was studying and collecting American country antiques. She was a “regular” at local auctions and shows. For many years, she was a member of the Oliver Watson House.
She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Griffin and her husband Robert Gay. She was the mother of the late Mark Griffin.
The funeral service and burial will be private.
