Mohamed Ahmed Adham , 93, of Wakefield and formerly of Valley Stream, NY had a peaceful passing on September 24, 2014. He was the beloved husband of 54 years to the late Resmeia (Rose) Adham. Born in Alexandria, Egypt, he was the son of the late Ahmed and Fatima Adham. From an early age Mohamed travelled the world as an able-bodied seaman, and later as a very accomplished boatswain. He worked on many ships from sailing vessels and freighters to oil tankers. He served on a Liberty ship during WWII bringing supplies to the Allies. Mohamed was a self taught chef, painter and gardener, sharing those talents with family and friends. Mohamed has been described by many as a most kind, caring and grateful person. He is best remembered as a man who loved his family, for his unusual generosity and resourcefulness and for his ever ready smile and willingness to help others. He is survived by his daughter, Liala Mohamed Strotman and her husband Donald Ray Strotman (Wading River, NY); son Richard Mohamed Adham and his wife Madelyn Rocke Adham (Wakefield, RI) with whom he resided for ten years. He also left behind four grand children; Neil Adham Strotman, his wife Hallena, (Somerset, New Jersey), Courtney Lee Adham ( Manhattan,NY), Jaime Adham Strotman(Manhattan,NY) and Andrew Rocke Adham (Manhattan, NY) along with a great-grandson; Anderson Xavier Strotman. He also leaves behind his siter-in-law Caroline Majid (Oceanside, NY). He was pre-deceased by his three brothers Ismail Adham, Abrahim Adham and Ali Adham and a sister Haleema Adham ; two brothers-in-law, Syed Majid and Joseph Majid. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Avery- Storti Funeral Home at 12 noon. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the International Rescue Committee at rescue.org or Beacon Hospice.
